Curated by Mehmet Birkiye and sponsored by Koç Holding Energy Group Companies Aygaz, Entek, Opet, and Tüpraş, the 28th Istanbul Theatre Festival will take place from October 22 to November 19. After a 20-year hiatus, the esteemed director Declan Donnellan returns to the festival with a production of Hamlet, performed by the master actors of the Marin Sorescu National Theatre, known for its legacy of unforgettable plays throughout its 165-year history. This production, rich in detail, will be staged at DasDas on November 7 and 8.
Nikita Milivojević, a director who has received nearly every theatre award available in his country throughout his over 30-year career, will present his surreal interpretation of Macbeth in collaboration with the National Theatre of Serbia, one of the most significant institutions contributing to the country's cultural identity. This performance will be held at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall on November 12 and 13, with high sponsorship from N Kolay.
Schaubühne Berlin will stage Richard III, directed by Thomas Ostermeier and featuring star actor Lars Eidinger in the lead role, on November 18 and 19 at Zorlu PSM, following a ten-year absence from the festival.
