“I feel trapped like the rest of us.”
The guest of the third episode of "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de" is Mevsim Yenice, one of the important storytellers of the young generation, who won the honorable mention at the Notre Dame de Sion Literature Awards with her first book, Tekme Tokatli Sehir Rehberi, which was published in 2017. In the episode, Basarir also reads a chapter of the story, called Bataklik Baligi, which is included in the author's second book, Bilinmeyen Sular, for the audience.
Mevsim Yenice, says "We live in Türkiye. I am a woman, and I am a young person. As an author, as a woman author, I have been already assigned with specific limits, goals and tasks. I feel trapped inside them.", and she adds: "Like all of us…" the young author explains that, although she sometimes doubts about her work, one of the most meaningful things that happened to her is that one of her readers wrote her a letter after reading her stories in the prison: “My stories made the time, which s/he spent there, a little bit more valuable. This is it! Who should read it? Let anyone, who needs it, read it. If my stories are to make her/him feel good, and if they are to touch a sensitive point, and if they are to set her/him on a path, and if they are to serve a purpose, then I hope my stories will find that reader."
