Seasonal Workers In Manisa With Sanitation Packages

Mey Diageo provided seasonal workers in Manisa with Sanitation Packages

Mey Diageo took part in the campaign "Bereketle Saglik Olsun" of the Development Workshop Cooperative, and distributed sanitation packages to agricultural workers and their families, who came to Manisa for seasonal work. The employees of Mey Diageo's plant in Alasehir also helped distribution of the packages, which were delivered to 2372 people in nearly 400 tents set up in 8 districts of Manisa. 

As part of the campaign "Bereketle Saglik Olsun" of Development Workshop Cooperative, which covered 8 cities with highest number of seasonal agricultural workers, Mey Diageo met sanitation package needs of 392 tents, where seasonal workers accommodate in Manisa. The total number of seasonal agricultural workers accommodating in the tents with their families and having urgent sanitation needs due to Covid-19 pandemic were 2372, including 1360 children.

With the support of the Provincial Director of Agriculture in Manisa and his deputy, 400 sanitation packages, which were already delivered to the provincial directorates of agriculture in 8 districts of the province, started to be distributed to the families of seasonal agricultural workers yesterday. The distribution, where employees of Mey Diageo's plant in Alasehir also take part, is planned to be completed by July 15.

The content of the sanitation package, including soap, shampoo, mask, plastic gloves, detergent and sanitary napkins, was determined by the Development Workshop Cooperative, by taking into consideration the sanitation needs of a family of 6 people, consisting of 2 adults and 4 children. The number of masks to be included in the package was determined for a period over 3 months, based on a 20-day working calendar per month and the seasonal agricultural calendar, by considering that every individual uses 3 masks a day.

Development Workshop Cooperative has recently launched the campaign “Bereketle Saglik Olsun” to meet the food and hygiene needs of agricultural workers who came from various parts of Türkiye to Mersin, Adana, Bursa, Ankara, Eskisehir, Konya, Manisa and Sanliurfa for seasonal work. As part of the campaign, Mey Diageo met the sanitation needs of all the tents set up in 26 regions in the districts of Manisa.
