Mey|Diageo, which has undertaken 169 sustainability projects in the past year in line with its 'Ecosystem 2030: Spirit of Progress' commitments, continues its efforts to contribute to sustainable food and agricultural systems under the principle of 'Leading Sustainability from Seed to Glass.'
As one of the leading companies in Turkey's alcoholic beverage industry, Mey|Diageo, which invests in the national economy, human resources, technology, and land as both a farmer and an industrialist, has published its '2023 Sustainability Performance' report. The report highlights the progress of sustainability-focused projects carried out in accordance with the company's global 'Ecosystem 2030: Spirit of Progress' commitments.

Bahar Uçanlar, General Manager of Mey|Diageo, emphasized that they have been informing a broad range of stakeholders about the progress of their sustainability journey through reports published annually since 2020. She shared her thoughts on the report: “The food ecosystem is one of the most important levers for future change. Contributing to the transition to more sustainable and resilient food and agricultural systems is one of Mey|Diageo's key objectives. We embrace sustainability as a business model and move forward with the principle of 'Leading Sustainability from Seed to Glass.' The aim and output of the work we do in line with our purpose of celebrating life, every day, everywhere, is sustainability. In this context, we are conducting numerous initiatives focused on carbon and water, turning to eco-friendly packaging materials to reduce the footprint of our activities across our value chain, and aiming to eliminate excessive packaging. We manage our supply chain responsibly and prioritize sustainability in our innovation processes.”
Key highlights from the 2023 reporting period:
✓ Water efficiency (l/l) (amount of water used per liter of production) target of 8.32 was achieved as 8.27.
✓ The carbon-neutral target was reached in Bilecik by obtaining the PAS2060 certification.
✓ A 9% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions was achieved.
✓ 8% less water was used in the facilities.
✓ A project aimed at replacing more water than used resulted in a savings of 137,349 m³ of water.
✓ In Manisa Şahyar, the shift to drip irrigation, ending traditional irrigation methods, has saved 47,709 m³ of water since the F22 period (July 1, 2021 – June 31, 2022).
✓ The installation of aerators in taps at schools, hotels, and public buildings in Denizli, Mersin, and Nevşehir saved a total of 104,652 m³ of water over the last two periods.
✓ Employee engagement index reached 91%, while the inclusivity and diversity index was 88% in surveys conducted among salaried employees.
✓ The product recommendation score among employees was 93, and the score for recommending Mey|Diageo as a place to work was 60.
✓ Deprem bölgesindeki saha satış çalışanlarının esenliğini desteklemek amacıyla tayinlerini farklı lokasyonlara gerçekleştirmelerine destek verildi.
