Mey|Diageo continues to make rapid progress towards creating a net positive for the environment, thanks to the projects it develops with the mindset of "Sustainability from Seed to Glass". After its plants in Alasehir, Nevsehir, Tarsus, Bilecik, Acipayam and Elazig, the plant of Mey|Diageo operating in Sarkoy has also become entitled to receive the Zero Waste Certificate issued by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye. After this certificate, Mey|Diageo, all plants of which, including the head office, have become zero waste, has also achieved its waste management goal, one of the ecosystem goals set by Diageo for 2030 on a global scale, in 2022.

Speaking about it, Levent Komur, the General Manager at Mey|Diageo, said, “We strive for a more sustainable world, while continuing to invest in the country's economy, human resources, technology, soil and farmers.  Zero waste is one of the key stages of this strive. With our plant in Sarkoy that has been the last plant to receive the 'Zero Waste Certificate', we have legally documented that all our plants in Türkiye have accurate waste management.”, and added: “We pay attention to locating our production plants in the regions with development priority in Türkiye. The primary reason of why we prefer the regions with development priority, rather than the regions which receive high industrial investments, is to contribute to regional development in our country and help these regions unlock their existing potential, while making efforts towards a sustainable future."

We are aware of our responsibilities

Stating that they have already achieved a waste management goal, one of the ecosystem goals set by Diageo for 2030, in 2022, Levent Komur said, "As a company that is engaged in both farming and industrial activities and a representative of the agriculture-based industry, we are aware of our responsibilities. We have various leading efforts, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to increasing water efficiency, from using 99.9% recyclable packaging to delivering sewage sludge as raw material to brick production. We, as Mey|Diageo, will continue to work with the goal of shaping a more livable world where we protect its resources and efficiency.”
