The podcast series "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de", in which Deniz Yuce Basarir, the experienced broadcaster, hosts the young female authors of our literature, met the audience with its two new episodes hosting Irmak Zileli, the award-winning author and editor, and Pelin Buzluk, the award-winning author and one of the important storytellers of our country! Irmak Zileli, who is the guest of the fourth episode of the series, which includes lively conversations where joy is intertwined with rebellion and sadness with laughter, says: "I am an author who favors the author's voice being silenced. As an author, I have to withdraw my own existence as much as possible so that the character's voice can come to the fore. Because, for me, the literature is an enricher as an experience of stepping into the shoes of another character. That is how I look at it as a reader.". The Pelin Buzluk, a guest of the fifth episode, tells "I think a story, which is based only on the interestingness of the story, is a weak story. Because everyone has an interesting story. That's why a good story should do something else, and it should make the reader dream.". The episodes of the series "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de", which has been prepared with the support of Mey|Diageo, are available on all channels, through which podcasts can be listened, especially Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and CastBox !
Deniz Yuce Basarir, an experienced name in the publishing world, intends to better introduce our productive and important authors, who bring the voice of the 21st century to their pages, through the new podcast series "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de". While listening to the series, in which Basarir hosts our "80s generation" female authors at her table for a sweet literary conversation, the sounds of laughter, heels and wineglasses of the women in Türkiye are being heard as well as the sound of their pens.
“I want those, who feel lonely, to read me.”
In the fourth episode of "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de", Deniz Yuce Basarir hosts Irmak Zileli, who has entered the world of literature with her writings and as an editor in the book magazines, and who won the Yunus Nadi Novel Award with her first novel, Esik, that was published in 2011. Zileli, who is also the author of the novels Gozlerini Kacirma, Golgesinde, Bende Olen Sensin, and Son Bakisthat was deemed worthy of the 2019 Duygu Asena Novel Award, tells, in her conversation with Basarir, that she favors the author's voice being silenced as much as possible in her works, and she draws a portrait of an author who knows very clearly what s/he wants to do. In the episode, in which Irmak Zileli - who wishes her writings to meet those, who feel lonely, and who first remembers the word "silence" when it comes to being a woman in this country - frankly explains her seeking in the literature, a striking chapter from her last novel, Bende Olen Sensin, that was published in 2022, meets the audience through voice of Basarir.
Saying "I want those, who feel lonely, to read me. If a text, which I write, makes people feel that they are not alone, and if it makes them say 'I' am not the only one alive', then it means that such bond gives strength. I would be very happy if it salves this.", Irmak Zileli, continues her words "I would also like those, who are open to confronting themselves, and who are open to questioning themselves through what I write, to read me, because then there is a possibility of change. I feel like I am changing and transforming while writing. If I do this, then it makes me happy that the reader does too.".
“I have no duty other than writing and making people dream.”
The guest of the fifth episode of "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de" is Pelin Buzluk, one of the important storytellers in Türkiye, who published her first book, Deli Bal, in 2010, and who is awarded with the Yasar Nabi Nayir and Selcuk Baran Story Awards and the Sait Faik Story Award. The episode, in which Buzluk reveals herself frankly as a writer, a woman, and a mother, wanders through the imaginary waters of the story; however, the realities of life also show themselves with all their cruelty in the middle of the conversation. In the episode that story writers should never miss, a chapter of the story called Gemisiz from the author's latest and award-winning book, En Eski Yuz, is read by Basarir.
Pelin Buzluk, who says that, although it takes a lot of time, she still writes her stories with a pen since she believes that this is a part of the writing process, tells her motivation for writing: "I write the stories as if they are to eventually find the reader, even though sometimes I do not think about publishing them. The biggest excitement there is the question 'What will they dream of here?'". Buzluk, who says that she usually collects the images with her imagination before starting a story, emphasizes that a good story should make the reader dream, and she adds: “I have no duty other than writing and making people dream.”
