Experienced publisher Deniz Yüce Başarır's podcast series "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de," which features conversations with women writers, has started its second season! The first guest of the new season's sparkling conversations, where joy intertwines with rebellion and sorrow with laughter, is one of Turkey's most important writers, Ayfer Tunç. Tunç, who believes that the fate of the individual is closely related to the fate of society, says, "Whatever happens in society is reflected in the life of the individual," and adds, "The post-truth era has turned everything upside down. It has also disrupted our belief system. Trust in truth has been shaken. We no longer know what the truth is. But this also brings a downside: we don’t know what a lie is either." The episodes of the "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de" series, prepared with the support of Mey|Diageo, are available on all podcast platforms, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and CastBox. From the second season onwards, the video recordings of the conversations can also be watched on Başarır's YouTube channel.

The first season featured guests like Nermin Yıldırım, Arlin Çiçekçi, Mevsim Yenice, Irmak Zileli, Pelin Buzluk, Sezen Ünlüönen, Sinem Sal, Oylum Yılmaz, and Melisa Kesmez. The first episode of the second season, which is the 10th episode, features Ayfer Tunç.
Deniz Yüce Başarır and Ayfer Tunç offer a laughter-filled, sincere, and literature-rich conversation in the new episode of "Elim Kalem de Tutar Kadeh de" for those who want to witness Tunç's writing journey from her first book Saklı to her latest novel Kuru Kız.
"The moment when the mind goes astray interests me a lot"
"Our mind, our subconscious is our greatest source in literature. It works beautifully. That's why I call writing a 'twilight activity,'" says Ayfer Tunç, adding, "On the one hand, we write in the light, seeing, while our consciousness is bright, but on the other hand, we actually get lost in the depths of our subconscious during that writing moment. We don't understand it ourselves; something just comes out of nowhere." The successful writer, who says she reads a lot about psychiatry and psychology, adds, "Because the moment when the mind goes astray interests me a lot."
"The novel I enjoyed writing the most is 'Bir Deliler Evinin Yalan Yanlış Anlatılan Kısa Tarihi'"
Ayfer Tunç says that her starting point varies for each book, explaining, "For example, in Dünya Ağrısı, the main issues were rural oppression and lynching. Interestingly, the issue of lynching holds a strong place in my subconscious." The author, who says that the novel she enjoyed writing the most is Bir Deliler Evinin Yalan Yanlış Anlatılan Kısa Tarihi, explains the reason with the words, "I had a lot of fun. It was like preparing a puzzle."
"There is no other way to endure this country, we need to laugh"
Talking about irony and melancholy, Ayfer Tunç says, "Irony is actually a concept that stands in contrast to sadness. When we add irony to sad stories, it changes their flavor. It changes the flavor and structure of the story," and adds, "There is no other way to endure this country. We need to laugh."
