Samandağ Mayor Emrah Karaçay, who evaluated the project aiming to provide education to 1000 women annually in future periods, stated that the municipality will offer all possible support for the construction of the village. There will also be tourism-oriented projects in the village.
Efforts to rebuild in the earthquake-affected region are ongoing. Oxfam KEDV (Foundation for the Support of Women's Work), Mey|Diageo, and the Municipality of Samandağ have joined forces to establish a gastronomy village for women affected by the earthquake.
While efforts are underway to turn the Samandağ district of Hatay into a tourism destination led by women, training will be provided in the first year to equip 600 women, primarily in cooking, budget management, and marketing. The goal is to educate 1000 women annually in future periods. Mey|Diageo General Manager Bahar Uçanlar stated that they have allocated 100 million TL to the earthquake-affected region to date, and said, "The gastronomy village, whose construction was started by Oxfam KEDV and the Samandağ Women's Cooperative, was damaged in the earthquake. We are currently doing our utmost to complete the construction process swiftly." Oxfam KEDV President Şengül Akçar mentioned that they aim to open the village in October 2024.
