For us, sustainability is an indispensable issue. We continue to make efforts to further integrate sustainability into the strategies and operational performance of our company at full steam. Our sustainability approach is based on the principle that reads, “Paving the way for sustainability from seed to glass”. Our business is shaped around this principle and sustainability is at the center of all our projects. Protection of our future and the ecosystem and the planet we live in is what lies at the base of our projects, communication activities, the initiatives we play a part in and our relations with public authorities and our customers. We fight for a more sustainable world with trail-blazing and pioneering efforts in our sector.
We, as Mey|Diageo, do our best not only for achieving the goal of fulfilling our corporate social responsibility, but also for being a "responsible social organization". We make efforts in line with the goals of spreading awareness of responsible drinking, developing a culture based on inclusion and diversity, decarbonizing our operations, reducing the water used in the production process by 40% by 2030, replacing more water than we use in water-scarce regions by 2026, eliminating waste in the value chain, making use of 100% recycled packaging, ensuring that all of our plants are carbon neutral by 2030, and taking a part in making the world a more fair and just place. We carry out our activities in accordance with the ecosystem goals for 2030 set by Diageo on a global scale in order to help shape a more inclusive and sustainable world. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the community where we live in, work, use resources and make sales by 2030.
We, as Mey|Diageo, believe that our positive impact on our country and planet will increasingly continue every year, during this journey we have set off with the principle that reads, “Paving the way for sustainability from seed to glass”. As a company that is engaged in both farming and industrial activities and a representative of the agriculture-based industry, we believe in sustainable economy wholeheartedly. We develop and bring into life trail-blazing projects to take sustainability even further in agriculture, trade, employment and culture. In fact, 67 projects we have completed this year in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an indicator of this.
We are proud of the results of the 2nd Sustainability Report of Mey|Diageo issued after a year in which we accelerated our efforts to make "net plus" contribution to our value chain that starts from the soil, vineyard and farm and stretches out to the gastronomic ecosystem of which we are a part. We increased the amount of renewable energy we generate and make use of at three of our plants to approximately 40%. Achieving the goal of “Zero Waste to Soil” at all of our plants helped us prevent 1.295 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Thanks to the projects we brought into life in cooperation with our suppliers, we prevented 346 tons of glass and 11 tons of paper and cardboard waste and 242 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. These are only a few of our efforts you can find in the report.
This report includes striking figures, several fields in which we have made progress, and more importantly, a very strong claim: “Sure, we can become a 'Quiet Different' company… All of our efforts are to show that “sure, we can become a 'quiet different' company”. Adopting this approach, which we built on respect to people, nature and our stakeholders, we say that “A company that supports the arts, advocates the rights of all living things and creates a positive impact on the environment is possible.” Because we believe that the answer to the question of “What kind of a world do we wish for tomorrow?” is actually hidden in the question of “How do we do our business today?”. This is why we strive with all our strength to ensure environmental, social and managerial balance for our society and our stakeholders and to create long-term, sustainable value through our activities.
